Statement on Conflict Minerals
Conflict minerals are minerals which are extracted in conflict zones (a.o. Democratic Republic of Congo and its neighboring countries) and sold to finance and thus perpetuate such conflicts.
If mined in conflict zones, the minerals columbite-tantalite, cassiterite and wolframite (which contain the metals tin, tantalum and tungsten respectively), their derivatives, as well as gold are considered conflict minerals. These minerals are, along with gold, referred to as “3TG”.
Below US and EU regulations on conflict minerals currently exist:- Section 1502 of the US Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, applicable to listed and US based companies;
- EU Conflict Minerals Regulation 2017/821, applicable to EU importers whose annual import volume of the minerals concerned exceeds the volume threshold set by the Regulation.
Sentech does not purchase 3TGs directly from mines, smelters, or refiners. Given the size and complexity of our supply chain, Sentech relies on its surveyed suppliers to provide information pertinent to the origin of the 3TG contained in purchased materials supplied to us. The majority of this information is provided at a company or division level and therefore, the information provided on Sentech’s CMRT is not necessarily limited to smelters or refiners confirmed to have processed 3TGs in Sentech products. This makes it impossible for Sentech to draw up product-specific statements.
At this time, Sentech has no reason to believe or suspect that materials in its products were actually sourced directly or indirectly from any smelter of concern. Sentech takes every effort to comply with both the European and US rules on conflict minerals and to source minerals through our supply chain in a responsible manner. Therefore, due diligence activities remain ongoing in the form of supplier engagement to encourage more accurate reporting and the progressive elimination of risks from upstream actors.
